My solar project continued with preparations. Because we had so many in tight quarters, I decided an articulated lift was the best route. My solar project continued with preparations. Because we had so many in tight quarters, I decided an articulated lift was the best route. Dropping the trees in sections with the lift did cause the yard to look like a war zone. It was far better then causing damage to my neighbours or my own house (besides it was fun to play with the 4×4 lift?) Keeping with my goals to improve our own sustainability the wood was not going to waste. Because I’m a master electrician my first thoughts towards improving my families sustainability was to install solar panels on my roof. With any installation a good plan is required. The amount of sunlight is of course a big factor in this plan. For my location my south facing roof is on the second story part of our house. The group of photos were taken in early morning and the shadows are running East to West. As the sun comes around throughout the day it hits these lovely cluster of trees. When it comes to solar generation, shadowing from trees is a problem. I love my trees but unfortunately they had to go. The first steps in our solar plan are underway, it’s time to take down some trees! But they won’t go to waste, the trees have a use for a few more sustainable projects. #sustainability #solar Read More »
